Here is a great Series for a Biblical Understanding of the Spiritual Roots of Abortion. I Listened to the MP3 and I can highly recommend this Material!!! ~Glenn Taylor

Fueling the 2006 South Dakota abortion ban were two messages by Pastor Steve Hickey of Church at the Gate in Sioux Falls. Though originally intended only for his congregation, thousands of copies began to circulate the state, laying a Biblical foundation regarding the spiritual dynamics behind abortion. Pastors statewide heard these messages and preached them in their pulpits.

Part One is titled "The Fires of Molech in America" and focuses on the demonic forces behind abortion.

Roe v Wade isn't just a bad law—abortion is demonically energized—an ancient evil spirit is feverishly devouring the next generation.

Part Two is titled "Their Blood Cries Out. " Both the Old and New Testaments are clear in how the shedding of innocent blood brings bloodguilt on all those in the circle of culpability. This is an eye opener to us in the church who've thought we aren't complicit in any way.

Most people think Jeremiah 1 and Psalm 139 are the only passages that directly relate to abortion. However, Pastor Steve tackles a whole category of Bible passages few are talking about today.

Although Fetal Pain Awareness Act Voted Down in House — U.S.Rep. Smith Says: Majority of House Votes Show "Overwhelming" Concern for Pain Suffered by Unborn Children during Abortion

by Patrick Creamer/AH : Dec 7, 2006 : Standard Newswirehttp://www.standardnewswire.com/news/24309372.html

"The majority we gained today is proof-positive that we can pass this legislation despite the unwillingness of some extreme pro-abortion members of Congress. I remain determined to find an avenue to pass this legislation in the near future."

Following today's vote in the House of Representatives, U.S. Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey, said the majority vote the legislation received shows that there is "overwhelming" concern for the pain children suffer during an abortion.

"Today, we can no longer deny, trivialize, or gloss over the significant and ever expanding body of knowledge that shows that an unborn child suffers real pain — excruciating pain — when he or she is dismembered as in a D & E abortion, or jabbed with scissors in a partial birth abortion, or poisoned by an abortionist," Smith said during debate on the House floor this morning.

Smith's legislation garnered a majority, but the "Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act" — H.R. 6099, was just shy of 'super-majority' necessary to pass under suspension of the rules.

During the debate, Smith pointed out that the partial-birth abortion ban trials have drawn new attention to the pain that unborn children feel during an abortion.

In expert testimony during those trials, Dr. Kanwaljeet Anand, director of the Pain Neurobiology Lab at the Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute explained, "the human fetus possesses the ability to experience pain from 20 weeks of gestation, if not earlier, and the pain perceived by a fetus is possibly more intense than that perceived by term newborns or older children."

Smith criticized the opposition for their use of junk science during the House debate this morning. "The debate [yesterday] exposed a 2005 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association that denied the pain unborn babies feel during an abortion because it was authored by pro-abortionists who did not reveal their biases or affiliations.

JAMA should be ashamed of itself for publishing a slick pro- abortion propaganda piece. One author, Eleanor Drey, runs the largest abortion clinic in San Francisco, which performs an estimated 600 late-term abortions annually, including abortions by dismemberment. None of that was disclosed when the JAMA article was published," Smith said.

Smith noted that the support shows that a majority of members of the House of Representatives are extremely concerned about the pain unborn babies feel during the act of abortion.

"This vote shows that there is indeed an overwhelming concern for the suffering of the unborn during an abortion. The unfortunate thing is there are still those in the House who are simply not concerned about the pain unborn children feel nor do they see the importance in relaying this critical information to women," Smith, the bill's author, said after the vote.

Smith said he fully intends to continue to push this legislation, which requires that women considering an abortion are informed of the intense pain their baby would feel during an abortion and offer her the option to reduce the pain inflicted on the unborn baby through anesthesia, in the 110th Congress.

"The majority we gained today is proof-positive that we can pass this legislation despite the unwillingness of some extreme pro-abortion members of Congress. I remain determined to find an avenue to pass this legislation in the near future," said Smith.

An Interview with Pro-Life Sen. Sam Brownback on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and How It's Opening Doors for Discussing the Value of Human Life

by Steve Elliott/AH : Nov 30, 2006 : Grassfire.orghttp://www.audioacrobat.com/note/C0yPrTPs/

"America is a majority pro-life country...we weren't getting there on the 'hail Mary pass,' but we are getting there on the partial birth abortion [issue] and...the stem cell debate, which gives us a chance to talk about the nature of human life-removed from the discussion of a 'woman's right to choose.'" — Sen. Sam Brownback

Steve Elliott, President of Grassfire.org Alliance, interviewed Kansas' Sen. Sam Brownback on several subjects, including the partial birth abortion ban, and the direction of the pro-life community.

An NRLC memo rebutting an article on fetal pain published by JAMA in August 2005, here. The JAMA article, often cited by opponents of the bill, claimed that available research suggests that the human fetus does not experience pain until about 29 weeks. As the NRLC memo and the linked documents demonstrate, the JAMA paper has been contradicted by some highly credentialed authorities in the field, and is inconsistent with longstanding observations and treatment of newborns who survive long-term after being born as early as 23 weeks. Moreover, the lead author of the JAMA article, a medical student, was previously an attorney for NARAL, and one of the other authors is a longtime activist who runs the largest abortion clinic in San Francisco, performs hundreds of late abortions every year, and has been a leading critic of the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act. According to
an article by the medical writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, who brought these associations to the attention of the JAMA editor after JAMA published the paper, "JAMA editor-in-chief Catherine D. DeAngelis said she was unaware of this, and acknowledged it might create an appearance of bias that could hurt the journal's credibility. 'This is the first I've heard about it,' she said. 'We ask them to reveal any conflict of interest. I would have published' the disclosure if it had been made.")

Russian Lawmakers Pass Law that says Both Parents Should Decide Whether or not to go through with an Abortion

Hilary White/CR: LifeSite News

Nov 29, 2006

Russia's abortion rate is creating one of the world's worst demographic crises.

Russia was the first nation to legalize abortion during the Marxist movement. It was intended to stabilize the economy and instead it has caused such a decline in the nation's birthrate that abortions have "outstripped" the births. At this rate Russia's population is on a steady decline of 700,000 people a year. Rather than salvaging the economy, abortion has proved to be a fatal blow to it.

High-level politicians have called for both parents to be involved in the consent for an abortion saying, "The decision to give birth to or murder a baby is an enormous one and it should be made by the parents together." They hope to rescue the lives of their future to ensure that Russia will live on, and not die before it is even born.

Two Lives Choosing Life

Their teen pregnancies brought a sense of purpose and mission to two Siouxland pro-life women now serving with VoteYesForLife.com

By Kent Wigg, Living Stones News Writer

Choosing to parent

She was a 14-year old high school student in a small South Dakota town. She was smart, athletic, and looking to a bright future.

And then she was pregnant.

Barb Asleson, now current employee of VoteYesForLife.com and former staff member of the Alpha Center, understands well the concerns of young women with unintended pregnancies: the heartache of telling parents and friends and the difficulty of re-organizing a life shaken with circumstances never anticipated. Asleson now embraces the mission of convincing other scared and confused young mothers-to-be why they should treasure the miracle of life unfolding within them.

However, Asleson also believes that, when the ultimate decision has to be made involving aborting or carrying the new life to full term, there really is no decision at all.

“I knew even before pregnancy that abortion would never be an option,” she said. Adoption or parenting would be the only choices for her.

When Asleson became aware of her pregnancy and knew she needed help, she delayed informing her parents, fearing how she would tell them and what their reactions would be.

Recalling that she was not a rebellious child, Asleson said she turned inward at first, to sort things out, recalling, “I was very hard on myself.” Still knowing she needed help, she turned to a new source of strength and answers. “Mom and dad were very strong Christians but didn’t explain about having a relationship with the Lord,” she said. “I needed to ask Him into my life. “I sought forgiveness and read books from a Christian book store. I remember getting down on my knees by my bed, crying and asking forgiveness,” she said. Asleson prayed, “God, I shouldn’t have done this. Please forgive me, and come into my life.”

“I was still scared afterward, but I felt peace more than relief,” she said. “Relief came when I told my mom.” With the support of her parents, Asleson determined to continue with high school and activities, living at home and allowing her mother to assist after the baby was born. “Mom helped me but stood back when needed,” she said. “It was a good balance.”
She reflected back to the early days of caring for her newborn baby boy. “A lot of parenting came naturally,” she said. “I wanted to be a good parent. Mom taught me a lot.”
In addition, the baby’s father, Shon, wanted to remain a part of the baby’s life and would come over to Asleson’s house to be with their child and assist with his care.
“It was very much a team effort,” Asleson said.Asleson graduated from high school and attended Dakota State University, eventually earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management and marketing. She married Shon in her second year at college, and the two have continued to raise their young son, now 10 years old, and look forward to the birth of their second child early next year.
After having served in development for the Abstinence Clearinghouse and the Alpha Center, Asleson was asked last June to serve the new VoteYesForLife.com campaign as adviser for churches and pastors.
She summarized her new responsibilities, “I’m here to educate and equip them. I get to know pastors across the state and help with their game plan.”

As the referendum nears, Asleson indicated her greatest wish is that the people of South Dakota will learn how abortion hurts women.“My purpose is to give hope,” she said. “I tell people I know everything is going to be OK – we’re going to get through this.
We have a lot of choices, but we don’t have the choice to take life.”

Referred Law 6

On March 6, 2006, Governor Mike Rounds signed into law House Bill 1215, declaring a constitutional provision for a “material and unalienable right to life.” The procedure of aborting unborn babies – except to prevent the death of the mother – was declared illegal in South Dakota. In June, a petition by pro-choice advocates to put the new law to a vote on the November ballot was accepted, with “Referred Law 6” as the designated title for the issue. Since then, a pro-life organization promoted as “VoteYesForLife.com” has sought to educate voters on aspects of HB1215 to be considered in the November 7 vote. Barb Asleson and Molly Hanson are two representatives of this advocacy group promoting life and reasons to vote “yes” in November.

Choosing Adoption

When Molly Hanson first found she was pregnant, her initial thought was to consider abortion.“I need to undo this,” she thought, even though as a baby, Hanson had been adopted from a Bolivian mother who had chosen not to abort her.

The 19-year old was just starting her first year at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, and had other plans for her future. She called her friends, to ask what to do now.

Hanson recalled their advice not to abort the baby. A staff member at the clinic that provided the pregnancy test also tried to convince her not to abort and urged Hanson to talk to her parents.
Revealing her pregnancy to her mom and dad was her greatest fear. “I don’t smoke or anything,” Hanson said. “People were shocked that I was pregnant.”

“I considered abortion, because I didn’t want my parents to think they had failed. The next day, though, I changed my mind and talked to them. My family was overwhelmingly supportive. They really stood up for me, even while I was pregnant.”

Yet, not everyone was as supportive as her family, as some friends pulled away from her. “It’s hard, because you don’t want friends to find out.” she said. “My friends didn’t stick with me. It’s when you really realize who your friends are.”

Hanson decided to continue with the pregnancy, dealing with feelings of guilt by continuing with school and taking a lighter class load. She was determined to show her parents that the pregnancy had not ruined her life, and she made the Dean’s List both semesters. With the help of her family and counselors at Sioux Falls’ Catholic Family Services, Hanson approached a decision on whether or not to keep the baby that was now near full term or to place the child for adoption through this service.

“You don’t have to give up the baby – they prepare you either way,” she said.

Her final decision was to place the child for adoption, where a home with both mom and dad would be provided. A healthy baby boy named Jacob was born to Hanson this past March and was subsequently adopted by a couple in Brookings.

Since delivering her baby, Hanson has sought to convince other pregnant and scared teens to consider the option of life. Along with her work at
VoteYesForLife.com, Hanson serves with the Augustana Life Alliance to help students to stand up for pro-life issues against what she sees as a highly vocal pro-choice advocacy group on campus.

Advising other women in situations such as what she has faced, Hanson said, “It’s OK to have feelings about the situation. A lot of girls think they’re alone, but that’s not the case. Just because a father isn’t in the picture, it should make you more determined. It’s scary, but your life doesn’t need to be over.”
Hanson’s hope, through her efforts in speaking to others is that, “Women would realize their lives can go on after the baby. There are so many families that want kids but can’t.
”Drawing the issue back to a personal level she added, “It’s not about me. It’s what’s best for Jacob.”
And, it’s what’s best for the Jacobs yet to come.

SOUTH DAKOTAN'S TO DECIDE NOV. 7

2006 Ballot Question Pamphlet Compiled by the Office of Secretary of State Chris Nelson

Referred Law 6

Title: Referral of HB 1215, entitled “An Act to establish certain legislative findings, to reinstate the prohibition against certain acts causing the termination of an unborn human life, to prescribe a penalty therefore, and to provide for the implementation of such provisions under certain circumstances.”

Attorney General Explanation

Current South Dakota law generally allows a pregnant woman to obtain an abortion during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.
Beyond 24 weeks, abortions may be performed only if necessary to preserve the life or health of the pregnant woman.
House Bill 1215 would prohibit any person, at any time, from providing any medicine or other substance to a pregnant womanfor the specific purpose of terminating her pregnancy. However, a person may provide a contraception substance to a woman without penalty prior to the time her pregnancy could be determined by conventional medical testing.
HB 1215 would also prohibit any person, at any time, from using any instrument or procedure on a pregnant woman for the specific purpose of terminating her pregnancy, unless the person is a licensed physician performing a medical procedure to prevent the death of the pregnant woman.
Any person other than the pregnant woman who violates the provisions of HB 1215 would commit a felony.
If approved, HB 1215 will likely be challenged in court and may be declared to be in violation of the US Constitution. If so, the State may be required to pay attorneys fees and costs.

A vote “Yes” will allow the Act to become effective.

A vote “No” will reject the Act.

Pro – Referred Law 6

In the 33 years since the US Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, medical and scientific studies have produced a wealth of credible information about unborn children, fetal pain, and postabortion problems experienced by women, information not available or known to the Court when it decided to legalize abortions, and reverse the pro-life protection laws of many states.
In 2005, the South Dakota Legislature created a 17 member Task Force to gather information and evidence about the practice of abortion since its legalization. The Task Force concluded that abortions harm women, physically and mentally, and that life begins at conception. Neither of these facts was contemplated by the Roe Court.
Based on the findings and conclusions of the Task Force, over fifteen years of enacting laws to protect the lives of unborn children and to grant them legal status, and a State Constitution which provides an “inherent right to life”, the Legislature and the Governor of South Dakota enacted HB 1215.
At issue are the rights of unborn children, the protection of the health of women, and the right and responsibility of South Dakota to exercise its powers under the 10th Amendment to the US Constitution.
After passing HB 1215 the SD Legislature also passed SB 154 which set up a separate fund to receive money to defend the state against abortion lawsuits and save taxpayer dollars from being spent on legal expenses.
The bill allows an exception for rape and incest, in addition to an exception for the life of the mother. Under Section 3, a woman who is the victim of rape or incest can consult with any doctor and until “conventional medical testing” can confirm a pregnancy (up to 14 days), she can be given an emergency contraceptive.

Con – Referred Law 6

This abortion ban is rigid and too restrictive. We ask you to VOTE NO ON REFERRED LAW 6.
This law has no exception for the health of a woman. A pregnant woman and her family will be left with no options to treat a terminal illness like breast or ovarian cancer because pregnant women can not take many medications. Rape and incest victims also have no options. Many victims of rape and incest, including young women are too ashamed or afraid to come forward in time to prevent the pregnancy. The law allows the government to intrude into a difficult, private decision that should be made by a woman, her family and her doctor. According to the Attorney General, this abortion law will likely be challenged in court and may be declared in violation of the US Constitution. The State will likely be required to pay attorneys fees. The big winners will be lawyers. With limited resources we should focus on education, health care and jobs, not fighting lawsuits. The law would make performing abortions or prescribing medical abortion pills a felony, subjecting doctors to sentences of five years in prison. Abortion is already rare in South Dakota. Making abortion illegal in just South Dakota, will not reduce the number of abortions, it will cause women to go to other states.
We don’t need this law that leaves us with no options.
