REVERSE THE DECREE OF 1973

By Lou Engle

Meditation:

“Now Esther spoke again to the king, fell down at his feet, and implored him with tears to counteract the evil of Haman the Agagite, and the scheme which he had devised against the Jews. And the king held out the golden scepter toward Esther. So Esther arose and stood before the king, and said, ‘If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight and the thing seems right to the king and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to revoke the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to annihilate the Jews who are in all the king’s provinces. For how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the evil that will come to my people? Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, ‘Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews. You yourselves write a decree concerning the Jews, as you please, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for whatever is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring no one can revoke.’” – Esther 8:3-8

Reflection:

In the book of Esther, Haman released a death decree against the Jews to extinguish the purposes of God in that generation. Similarly, in 1973, a decree of death was released against unborn children, under the guise of judicial review in the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, to hinder the purpose of God in this generation. For 33 years, we have co-existed with Haman’s gallows, but I believe the time is up!

Over the past thirteen days since this fast began, there have been over 1.25 million hits on Facedown40.com. Possibly thousands of people around the United States and the nations of the world are fasting together with us. There is an uprising!

I believe that the river of God is again swelling with justice. In the last two weeks, extraordinary events have taken place around our nation. South Dakota, Mississippi, Indiana, Tennessee, and now other states have or are in the process of incredibly limiting and banning abortion. Just a few days ago, a US Senator called me and said, “Encourage your praying people; what is taking place right now is unprecedented. More is taking place today in the nation since Roe v. Wade was passed.”

Similarly, a major Christian leader in New England, Brian Simmons, called us to encourage us in our fasting and prayer. In the dream, the voice of the Lord spoke to him saying, “You need to know the name of the governor who signed the bill in South Dakota. His last name is significant.” Brian Simmons awoke from the dream and found out that the name of the governor of South Dakota is Governor Rounds.

Could it be that the abortion is coming around again and that it is in its final round? And could it be that what is going on in South Dakota could make its “rounds” in every state of the Union?

The Church must pray and fast and seize the day. The pulpits must become alive with the sound of abolition. Teachers must teach the truth concerning the shedding of innocent blood. Compassion ministries for pregnant mothers and preparations for adoption must spring up in the body of Christ before abortion becomes illegal. Godly prophetic activism must fill every state.

Last night, a sister had a dream of women wailing and crying out, “Wake up Mother Teresa! Wake up Mother Teresa!”

The Church must be a movement of adoption. Caring for mothers and children must swell.

I believe we are in a moment of time as significant as the hour of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. Through our prayers and activism we are writing a new decree reversing Roe v. Wade for we were “...brought into the kingdom for such a time as this.”

I close today’s devotional to encourage those who feel so led to intensify their fast and time of prayer in this three-day season of Purim from March 13 to March 15 (see yesterday’s devotional). Today, on this fast, let us together target the reversal of Haman’s decree of 1973 of Roe v. Wade.

Prayer:

Jesus, we humble ourselves before you in this season of fasting and prayer. We have sinned against You in the most grievous way. We have shed the innocent blood of our own children, a sin for which you have destroyed nations and empires. Remember the blood of your own Son that speaks better than the cry for judgment and vengeance. Our only hope is Your great mercies and that you remember Your covenant with our fathers. Come now! Move on our behalf! Rule over the Supreme Court Justices. We call forth the prevailing influence of the kingdom over these nine Justices. We call forth the shaking and shaping of the throne of a pro-abortion Justice and the promotion of a pro-life Justice in their place. We pray for President Bush. We declare that he will nominate only pro-life Justices. In Your great mercy, Amen.

The law is scheduled to take effect on July 1st, 2006.

In a ground-breaking decision today, South Dakota governor Mike Rounds signed into law a bill that would ban all abortions in his state, except in the case of women who would need an abortion to save their lives.

According to the CNN report, the measure is a direct challenge to the 1973 decision of Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion.
The new law takes effect this summer and states that doctors in South Dakota who perform an abortion will face up to five years in prison.

Bill to Ban Abortion Passes in South Dakota Senate - Historic Legislation Now Goes to Governor Rounds for Signing

by Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney / Aimee Herd reporting :
Feb 23, 2006 : Christian Newswire, Christian Defense Coalition http://www.earnedmedia.org/cdc02221.htm

"Our hope and prayer now is that Governor Michael Rounds will sign this bill and send a clear message to the other states to affirm the dignity of life."

The Christian Newswire, yesterday, reported that the legislation to ban abortion in South Dakota passed in the state Senate, after a similar bill easily passed in the House. The measure will now go to South Dakota Governor Rounds to be signed into law.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, director for the Christian Defense Coalition, commented, "We applaud the courage of the South Dakota legislature in voting to ban abortion and end this tragic violence against women an
d children. With several states waiting in the wings to ban abortion, momentum is clearly building nationwide to overturn Roe.

Polls are showing that more and more Americans are becoming uncomfortable with abortion and the overwhelming majority of our nation's young people feel abortion is ‘immoral'. Even Senator Hillary Clinton has stated abortion 'represents a tragic choice for many women.'"

"The optimism in the pro-life community also surged yesterday when the Supreme Court agreed to hear a case on banning partial-birth abortion," Mahoney added. "All of these things indicate that Roe is slowly, but surely, being chipped away at. Our hope and prayer now is that Governor Michael Rounds will sign this bill and send a clear message to the other states to affirm the dignity of life."

Mississippi Joins Burgeoning Movement to Ban Abortion - Governor Says He Would Sign the Bill

"The current movement to ban abortion in the states and challenge Roe v. Wade is an historic and unprecedented one - and it is picking up steam."

Earlier this week, the Mississippi House Public Health committee voted to approve a ban on abortion, much like the South Dakota bill that recently passed. The measure will move on to the full House to be voted on next week, then, if it is approved, to the state Senate. (Pictured: Operation Rescue's Truth Truck visits an abortion center in Mississippi.)

According to a report on Operation Rescue's website, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour said he would sign the bill into law if it made it to his desk. Some of the other states that are looking at legislation to ban abortion are: Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, said, "These are exciting times for those who support the sanctity of human life. The current movement to ban abortion in the states and challenge Roe v. Wade is an historic and unprecedented one - and it is picking up steam. We do not believe that Roe can withstand wave after wave of frontal attacks from so many states."

Supreme Court Decision is Pro-Life Victory over N.O.W.

http://www.breakingchristiannews.com

by Joe Scheidler / Aimee Herd reporting :
Feb 28, 2006 :
Christian Newswirehttp://www.earnedmedia.org/plal0228.htm

"This unanimous ruling is not just a victory for pro-life activists, but for anyone who chooses to exercise his First Amendment rights to effect social change."

The lawsuit NOW (National Organization for Women) v. Scheidler (of the Pro-Life Action League) was originally filed in 1986 and underwent many revisions before coming once again before the U.S. Supreme Court this week. Matt Staver, president of the Liberty Counsel, explained the original argument:
The case of Scheidler v. NOW was brought by NOW against several pro-life protestors, claiming that the protest activities of several pro-life individuals and groups were in violation of RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) and the Hobbs Act.

In order for RICO to apply, there must first be a violation of one of the laws listed within RICO. One such law that abortion advocates have relied upon is the federal law known as the Hobbs Act. The Hobbs Act prohibits extortion, which is defined as the improper obtaining of property from another. Abortion advocates argued that pro-life protestors committed "extortion" by picketing their clinics.

The Supreme Court decided today that physical violence or threats of physical violence unrelated to robbery or extortion fall outside the scope of the Hobbs Act, and thus the protestors' actions could not be considered violations of the Hobbs Act, and therefore did not violate RICO. The Court ordered for judgment to be entered in favor of the abortion protestors.

In a statement posted on the Christian Wire Service site, Joseph M. Scheidler, National Director of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League, and Petitioner in the NOW v. Scheidler case, said, "Naturally I am gratified to be vindicated once again by the United States Supreme Court."
"I am mystified that I had to go to the trouble and expense of appearing before the Supreme Court three times," Scheidler added. "The Court was right when they ruled for us 8-1 in 2003, but the National Organization for Women refused to acknowledge defeat. They convinced the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals to keep the case alive, in spite of the Supreme Court's clear mandate to end it."

Scheidler's attorney on the case, Thomas Brejcha, commented, "This unanimous ruling is not just a victory for pro-life activists, but for anyone who chooses to exercise his First Amendment rights to effect social change."
