"The current movement to ban abortion in the states and challenge Roe v. Wade is an historic and unprecedented one - and it is picking up steam."

Earlier this week, the Mississippi House Public Health committee voted to approve a ban on abortion, much like the South Dakota bill that recently passed. The measure will move on to the full House to be voted on next week, then, if it is approved, to the state Senate. According to a report on Operation Rescue's website, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour said he would sign the bill into law if it made it to his desk. Some of the other states that are looking at legislation to ban abortion are: Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, said, "These are exciting times for those who support the sanctity of human life. The current movement to ban abortion in the states and challenge Roe v. Wade is an historic and unprecedented one - and it is picking up steam. We do not believe that Roe can withstand wave after wave of frontal attacks from so many states."
