Ask Senator Sears to Hold a Hearing!

Please join a statewide effort to convince Senator Sears to allow the democratic process to work by holding a hearing on the bill in his Committee that addresses crimes against an unborn child.


The project involves five simple steps and we hope that thousands of Valentine Hearts will be sent to Senator Sears with the following message:
Have a Heart, Have a Hearing.

Please call & urge your VT State representatives to take up the bills already introduced and remedy the injustice of no protection under the law for unborn babies in Vermont law this session. Pray that Vermont will join the 37 other states and the Federal Government in recognizing an unborn child (fetus) as a victim in the case of a crime committed against a pregnant woman.

S.273 addresses concerns, hardships and costs particular in cases of assault to a pregnant woman, that can occur even if there is no death resulting from a crime involving a pregnant woman. In practical effect, if S.273 becomes law, other Vermont mothers who lose their unborn children to an act of negligence, gross negligence or violence will still have to discover, as Patricia Blair did, that their children’s lives did not count.

S.175 (H.605) will give law enforcement the tools to effectively protect pregnant women by acknowledging that a death has resulted when an unborn child dies or is injured as a result of criminal activity. S.175 (H.605) will bring Vermont law in line with the laws in 37 other states and the federal government – and none of those laws has had any effect on abortion laws or abortion availability.
